One month left in 2024, wtf have I achieved?

AdulThings
Everything Adulting- Don't underestimate the power of small steps. Greatness is a sum of consistent, daily efforts

For every time, I complain about something in my life, I feel I have to cushion it by saying “I’m grateful that I have this but” So I am going to cushion the post by saying I am grateful to God for all I have in this present moment. I truly am but to answer the question in the title which is wtf have I achieved? I would say I have just done enough to be okay. In the words of my sister ‘Let my people go’.

So, what have I achieved you ask

  • I got a job.
  • I graduated.
  • I went to a Jasmine Sullivan concert
  • I went to a Nicki Minaj Concert
  • I went to at least 3 Christian concerts

And on the flip side:

  • I gained 10kg.
  • I didn’t move out.
  • I didn’t follow through on my blog plans.
  • I didn’t get the extra qualifications I wanted.
  • I didn’t switch to a better job/opportunity

Looking ahead, my one goal for the last months of the year is I need to figure out how eliminate an innate part of me that defaults to coasting through life. This might sound like a broad goal, but I feel it’s necessary as I have struggles with it for years,

Here’s what that goal looks like in action: if I’m applying for jobs, I’ll actually put effort into each application, tailoring my resume instead of just hitting “quick apply” with the same CV. If I’m saving for something, I’ll keep a closer watch on my spending, resisting the urge to treat myself constantly. And if I want to improve my day-to-day appearance, I’ll invest time in my outfit choices, wake up earlier, and establish a consistent routine, rather than expecting different results with minimal effort. This goal means it’s no longer okay to coast. Even if I’m doing the bare minimum, I’ll be doing my best bare minimum. It’s being intentional.

On a somewhat related note, I recently started a new category on my blog called Dose of Gratitude. I’m not sure if you picked up on it, but I could use more appreciation for what I have—especially the small things. I’ll be posting in that category throughout December, and I’m genuinely looking forward to it.

What have you achieve this year that you are proud of and what are your plans for the last 2 months of this year?

See you same time, next week?
